IMPORTANT DATES

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

STEP 1:
REGISTER YOUR CLASS

Each individual teacher will need to fill out a registration form. Please do not register your school under one registration. Our Water Festival Committee will create individual class schedules in mid-April. Be sure to register quickly! The committee pays particular attention to the timestamps on each registration when determining which day schools will attend. Please remember that although this festival is over a two-day time period, each school and class will only attend the festival on one day.

STEP 2:
WAIT FOR ATTENDANCE
DAY CONFIRMATION

In mid-April, the committee will provide each registered teacher with a confirmation that verifies which day each school will be attending. The goal is to split each day as evenly as possible. Please do not make transportation requests prior to receiving your assigned day.

STEP 3:
SCHEDULE YOUR TRANSPORTATION

Once you receive your assigned day confirmation, please make transportation requests as you would for any other field trip. The Children’s Water Festival Committee and generous community sponsors will cover all transportation costs, but it is your responsibility to book buses and coordinate transportation. Invoices can be sent directly to Ute Water.

STEP 4:
PREPARE YOUR CLASS

The Children’s Water Festival is not possible without the participation and generosity of our presenters, who not only donate their time but also resources and materials. Most of our presenters have limited experience in classroom management, so it is expected that you keep your students on task, respectful, and safe. You are responsible for your students, and we hope that you’ll be just as engaged and involved with our presenters as your students.

We also need to respect Las Colonias Park and Amphitheater to ensure they can host the Children’s Water Festival for years to come. It is expected that students and teachers will use the designated trails and walking paths when moving about the festival. Vegetation and landscape are still developing at Las Colonias Park and Amphitheater, so it is vital that paths and trails are utilized.

Each schedule is generated with great attention to detail and ensures that students will get wet at least once during the day. If a student or class is observed in a body of water, such as the Butterfly Pond or Colorado River, and it is not part of a presentation, it will result in sending your entire school home from the festival.

STEP 5:
REVIEW YOUR INDIVIDUAL SCHEDULE

By early May, you’ll receive a custom schedule that is intended for your class via email. Please prepare for most classes with over 25 students who may be split into smaller groups for scheduling purposes. This allows the students to get more out of the presentations while providing the presenters with a more manageable class size.  Once you receive your schedule, please review it carefully. If your class is split into an “A” and “B” Group, you are responsible for dividing your class. You will also need to have an additional adult chaperone(s) that will be responsible for that portion of your class at the festival.

STEP 6:
